Boston Genetics is a contract genomics organization providing variant and gene curation and interpretation services to some of the most innovative companies based in the United States and Europe. We are a dedicated team of over 100 with offices in Cambridge (Massachusetts), Tuzla (Bosnia) and Sarajevo (Bosnia).    

 

We are looking for a collaborative Genetic Curation Specialist to join our team in conducting genetic variant interpretation through the analysis of scientific literature, clinical population studies and human genetics databases.

 

To succeed as a Genetic Curation Specialist, you should have strong research skills. You should be collaborative, knowledgeable, observant, analytical, and detail-oriented. This position requires understanding of the function and disease impact of human genetic variants. You should have a strong background in genetics or a related discipline and have fluency in human disease genetics.

 

This position will include a salaried training period where we will teach you to succeed as a Genetic Curation Specialist. This training period will last around 2-3 months, and if passed you will be offered a full-time Genetic Curation Specialist position with Boston Genetics. Candidates with extensive experience in clinical genetic curation may have their training period shortened.

 

Responsibilities

  • Perform scientific literature review, and variant classification using ACMG criteria to clinically correlate gene/variant with patient phenotype.
  • Perform technical assessment of exome and genome data, through association between certain genes and diseases/syndromes using scientific literature and analysis tools.
  • Present results and progress at regular team meetings and interact with industry collaborators to exchange information regarding variant classification.
  • Clinical classification of genomic variants by the utilization of tools, resources and published medical literature.

Requirements

  • Master's degree (alternatively degree completion by September 2021) or higher education level in Biology, Genetics or other life sciences field.
  • Ability to work with a team.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English language.
  • Be able to work from our offices in Tuzla or Sarajevo.
  • Proficiency with computers, especially scientific databases and related tools.
  • We are able to sponsor work permits for exceptional candidates.
